Ever since she was studying at the University of Indonesia, Lisabona had already been active in many organizations. She began to develop an interest in journalism, and started first as a reporter for an in-campus publication and then worked as radio journalist at Internews.
She became interested in women’s issues when she was managing a talk show program under the theme “Women and Human Rights” in 1999. Lisabona ended up completing eight themes on women for that radio program.
With other colleagues who share the same concern, Lisabona established the Women Research Institute (WRI), a research institute on women’s issues. ***
